Chapra (chaprajila.in) City is Saran District Administrative Headquarters falling under Bihar State, India. Chapra or Chapra is known to Saran. It is also Saran's divisional headquarters. Chapra has 2,641 sq. of region. kms. Saran has a total population of 32,48,701, according to Census 2001. District Siwan and Gopalganj are located in northern Saran district. The Ganges constitute the district's southern border beyond which the Patna and Bhojpur districts lie. The district of Vaishali and Muzaffarpur is split by the Gandak River in the south of Saran. The river Siwan and Balia. Ghaghra (Saryu) divide Saran and Ballia in Uttar Pradesh to the south of Chapra. The district is formed like a triangle at the confluence of the Gopalganj District and Gandak-Ganga River boundaries with its apex. There are three rivers that surround the district on the southern, northern, eastern and western sides, namely the Ganga, Ghaghra, Gandak.

There are 3 subdivisions (Chapra sadar, Sonepur and Marhaura) and 20 blocks in the Chapra districts. The district of Saran is well served by a road network. Chapra District Headquarters is about 85 km from Patna State Capital linked via NH 19 (Hajipur to Gazipur-U.P). Rail connectivity is very nice with other country region. Chapra Junction is the main railway station connecting Chapra with all of India's major towns. Agriculture is the district's primary occupation and also the people's primary source of living.
